You can delete your NewsBriefly AI account, all of your data, and revoke our access to your Gmail at any time. This page documents every available method.

1. Delete your account from the app (recommended)

Sign in to newsbrieflyai.com.
Go to Settings → Danger Zone.
Click Download data export if you want a copy first.
In the Delete account form, type the literal phrase delete my account and confirm.

This action is irreversible. It triggers the following within seconds:

All your account, Gmail, sender, and interaction records are hard-deleted from our PostgreSQL database (cascade delete).
Your encrypted Google OAuth refresh tokens are immediately revoked at Google's revoke endpoint (https://oauth2.googleapis.com/revoke).
Raw email HTML in Cloudflare R2 is deleted within 24 hours.
Database backups are rotated; backup copies are purged within 30 days.

2. Disconnect Gmail without deleting your account

If you only want to stop us reading new email but keep your account and saved articles:

Go to Settings → Gmail.
Click Disconnect next to the Gmail account.

This deletes our stored refresh token and revokes it at Google. We will stop fetching new email immediately. Previously summarised articles remain visible in your feed.

3. Revoke from your Google Account

You can also revoke our access independently from your Google Account:

Open myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Find NewsBriefly AI in the list.
Click Remove Access.

After Google revokes the token, our next ingestion attempt will fail gracefully and the corresponding Gmail account will be marked disconnected.

4. Delete via email request

If you cannot access the app for any reason, email privacy@newsbrieflyai.com from the address on your account with the subject line "Account deletion request". We will:

Confirm receipt within 3 business days.
Verify your identity (we may ask you to reply from the email address on file or click a verification link).
Complete the deletion within 30 days and notify you when done.

5. What is retained after deletion

After deletion, we retain only the minimum information required by law (for example, financial records related to past invoices, kept for the period required by tax law in our jurisdiction). All Gmail-derived data is purged.
